PARROT PIE LYRICS Dave Corbett 2026
OK Lizzie, what shall we bake?
A bun, a tart, perhaps a cake?
A cherry pie, a lovely cherry pie.
Oh yes a cherry pie, to eat for tea.
A cherry pie, a lovely cherry pie.
A cherry pie, yes that’s the one for me.
There’s a parrot in my pie, a parrot in my pie.
I’m really not sure why, there’s a parrot in my pie.
I saw it start to fly, it just went right on by.
Goodness, me oh my, a parrot in my pie.
OK Lizzie, what shall we bake?
A bun, a tart, perhaps a cake?
A lemon pie, a lovely lemon pie.
Oh yes a lemon pie, to eat for tea.
A lemon pie, a lovely lemon pie.
A lemon pie, yes that’s the one for me.
An apple pie, a lovely apple pie.
Oh yes an apple pie, to eat for tea.
An apple pie, a lovely apple pie.
An apple pie, yes that’s the one for me..
There’s a parrot in my pie, a parrot in my pie.
I’m really not sure why, there’s a parrot in my pie.
I saw it start to fly, it just went right on by.
Goodness, me oh my, a parrot in my pie.
PARROT PIE SCRIPT Dave Corbett 2026
Mum was a good cook. A very good cook. She was especially good at baking. One day she and her daughter Lizzie decided that they would bake something, but they were not quite sure what.
Let’s not make a savoury pie said Lizzie, not meat or cheese or potato or anything. Something sweet.
‘Savoury pie, savoury pie’ shrieked their pet parrot Marmaduke. He liked copying what he heard people said. He was a very clever parrot.
OK, sweet it is. So, what fillings have we got for the pie?
‘I’ll look in the cupboard’, said Lizzie. ‘Well, there’s a tin of peas’. Lizzie laughed and said ‘I don’t really want a pea pie thanks Mum! Or a tomato pie’ she said, holding up a tin of tomatoes. ‘Pea pie, tomato pie’, shrieked Marmaduke.
Oh look, a tin of cherries. They would be nice. She put the tin on the worksurface. ‘We’ve got some lemons in a dish over there’, said Mum, ‘we could make a lemon meringue pie. If you want’.
‘Lemon Meringue, Lemon meringue’ shrieked Marmaduke.Yes, they are scrummy, but you made one just last week.
Just then Dad came in through the kitchen door. Look what I’ve just picked from the garden. He said. He held out a bag, put in his hand and pulled out a lovely big green apple. Cookers, he said.
Perfect said Lizzie let’s make an apple pie. An apple pie? said Dad, great, we can have custard with it. And cream said Lizzie. Ice cream Ice cream shrieked Marmaduke. Yes, we know you do said Lizzie, Mum and Dad together.
Later that day, when the pie was cooling, Lizzie, Mum and Dad were in the kitchen. Marmaduke was outside his cage having a bit of a flutter. Suddenly he flapped his wings, flew across the kitchen and landed feet first in the apple pie. Mum and Dad were horrified, but Lizzie thought it was quite funny’ Oh look, she said, a parrot pie.
Parrot pie, parrot pie shrieked Marmaduke, and started to eat the scrummy apple pie under his feet.
