Mr and Mrs Take had twins. Identical twins. They were called Trixie and Tess, and they were very musical. Trixie played the ukelele and Tess played the flute. Mrs Trisk, the headteacher at their new school, played a trick on the audience at the school concert.

TWINS SCRIPT Dave Corbett 2025

Mr and Mrs Take and their two seven year old daughters, Trixie and Tess, had just moved house. Trixie and Tess were twins, identical twins. They looked exactly the same as each other except Trixie had a little mark behind her right ear. Even Mum and Dad had trouble telling them apart.

New house, new school, and just in time for a school concert. Tess was pretty good on the flute, and Trixie was pretty good on the ukulele. She knew quite a few chords and notes.

They had only been at the school for a couple of days and the other children and the teachers had already had a lot of trouble trying to sort out who was who. The headteacher, Mrs Frisk, decided to put the sisters in the concert. Spice it up a bit.

Came the performance, lots of Mums and Dads gathered, so exciting. After a little girl tap dancing, three girls playing recorders and a little lad telling a couple of jokes which no one laughed at, Mrs Frisk announced “And now Miss Take will play the flute ... and no, that’s not a mistake, Miss Take is new to the school, so give her a big hand”. There was a little chuckle and everyone clapped.

Tess came on the stage and played her flute piece. People clapped again and Tess left the stage. Immediately Mrs Frisk said, “And now Miss Take will play her ukulele”. Straightaway Trixie and her ukulele came onto the stage from the other side! Everyone gasped. What? Was that magic? How on earth did she get to the other side so fast? And she can play the ukelele as well?

Anyway Trixie played her uke, and left the stage to loud applause. “And now,” said Mrs Frisk, “two Miss Takes, Trixie Take and Tess Take. Welcome to our school girls”. Tess with her flute and Trixie with her ukulele both came onto the stage from different sides to another huge gasp from the audience. Wow identical twins! The two girls broke into a piece they had been practicing together at their old school, played it perfectly and it was a huge success. Loud applause. Well done girls. No mistakes there!

TWINS LYRICS Dave Corbett 2025

CHORUS

Twins, (they are two) twins, (identical) twins,

Trixie and Tess, oh yes … identical twins.

They’ve got the same hair, same eyes,

same mouth, it’s no surprise.

Same smile, same chin,

same ears, a mirrored twin, (mirrored twin, mirrored twin).

CHORUS

You wear the same dress, same shoes,

same blouse, we’re so confused.

Same scarf, same ring,

same socks, same everything.

Which is which? Who is who?

Tell us, are you you or you?

Who is who? Which is which?

Do you ever try to switch identities?

It’s really quite neat, everything’s in repeat,

really quite smart, can’t be told apart.

Trixie and Tess in duplicate mode,

 almost makes my head explode.

CHORUS

They’ve got the same hair, same eyes,

same mouth, it’s no surprise.

Got the same smile, same chin,

same ears, a mirrored twin, (mirrored twin, mirrored twin).

CHORUS
