Billy Bee was an ace nectar collector.

He was simply the best .. the bee's knees in fact.

Good old Billy Bee. He always collected much more nectar from flowers than any other bee in the beehive, and more nectar meant more honey to feed baby bees. He also collected lots of yellow pollen on his legs to help other plants grow.

Yesterday Bill was up at the break of day, as soon as the sun was getting up, and he headed for the garden. Blue flowers first. He liked the colour blue. ‘Hello Billy’, said Linda the ladybird, ‘are you at work already?’ ‘Oh yes Linda’, said Billy. He climbed into a lovely blue flower and came out with yellow pollen all over his six legs and lots of nectar in his special tummy. ‘Well done Billy’, said Linda, and off she flew.

Billy went to a yellow flower next. ‘Hello Billy’, said Katie caterpillar. ‘Collecting again?’ ‘Oh yes Katie’, said Billy. He climbed into a lovely yellow flower and came out with yellow pollen all over his six legs and lots of nectar in his special tummy. ‘Well done Billy’, said Katie, and off she wriggled.

Next, a lovely purple flower. ‘Hard at work Billy?’, said Benny the butterfly. ‘Oh yes Benny’, said Billy. He climbed into a lovely purple flower and came out with even more yellow pollen all over his six legs and lots of nectar in his special tummy. ‘Well done Billy’,said Benny, and off he flew.

Billy’s special tummy was getting a bit full now, a bit heavy. ‘Just one more’ thought Billy. A red flower looked very interesting. ‘You look a bit full up’, said Wally the worm. ‘Oh yes Wally’, said Billy. He climbed into the lovely red flower and came out with even more yellow pollen all over his six legs and lots more nectar in his special tummy. ‘Well done Billy’, said Wally, and off he squirmed.

His special tummy was full to the brim with nectar now. Billy buzzed back to the beehive, and there to meet him was the Queen Bee. ‘Well done Billy, lots of nectar to make honey. You really are the bee’s knees at collecting’. ‘Thank you your majesty, just another busy Billy bee collection’.
