It's a tough life being a worm. Watch out for the birds, frogs, badgers and the moles of course. And on top of that, which end is which?

WORRIED WORMS Script Dave Corbett 2025
Winnie was a giggler alright … a wriggly, giggly, squigly worm. Wilf, her worm brother, was much more serious. ‘Stop giggling’, he would say, but often to the wrong end. Worms don’t have actual heads so it was sometimes difficult to know which end was which.
You know where your head is and where your feet are don’t you? Your head is where you put jelly and ice cream and buns, and your feet are .. .well, at the other end.
A worm’s life is a bit boring, … no toys, books or TV. No computer games ... they couldn’t even reach the swings or the slide in the park. Actually they did live in a park, but under the ground. They had to live underground because lots of creatures would have liked to eat them if they got the chance. Creatures like birds and badgers, frogs and hedgehogs. Grass snakes as well, although you might think that a grass snake is just a big worm and that they would be friends. Oh no. Even underground they have to make sure they don’t come across a mole; moles really like eating worms.
Life for a worm is quite a worry.
By the way I don’t suppose you would like to eat a worm would you? Hmm? It’s actually not a vey good idea anyway… they just taste of mud .. or so I’m told.
If Wil and Winnie worm ever did pop out above the soil Wilf would say ‘Keep your head down Winnie’, but he often said it to the wrong end. It was quite a worry. So most of the time they stayed under the ground, in the soil with their friends, ... other worms, ants and earwigs. They would spend most of the day munching on the lovely soil and mouldy leaves.
I don’t suppose you would like that for tea would you? Hmm? In fact I bet you’re quite pleased you’re not a worm aren’t you? Hmm?
WORRIED WORMS Lyrics. Dave Corbett 2025
CHORUS
Worried worms, underneath the ground, worried worms, dangers all around.
Worried worms, safer down below Worried worms, keep your head down low …
(whichever end that might be.)
1
If a frog is close, beware, If a frog is close just there.
Then wriggle, wriggle, wriggle, wriggle, wriggle fast.
Down, down, down, ‘till you’re safe at last.
(Or are you? Is there a mole in the hole? That’s a worry.)
CHORUS
2
If a bird is close, beware, If a bird is close just there.
Then wriggle, wriggle, wriggle, wriggle, wriggle fast.
Down, down, down, ‘till you’re safe at last.
(Or are you? Is there a mole in the hole? That’s a worry.)
CHORUS
3
If a badger’s close, beware, If a badger’s close just there.
Then wriggle, wriggle, wriggle, wriggle, wriggle fast.
Down, down, down, ‘till you’re safe at last.
(Or are you? Is there a mole in the hole? Worried worms.)
