Fluff in a Huff - we all get into routines of sorts. Fluff needs patience. KS1

Fluff wasn’t given time to eat his sausage, have a drink, sniff a lamp post or walk in the park! Well, wouldn't you be in a huff?

FLUFF IN A HUFF    SCRIPT    2024

Yips yahoo, another day thought Fluff. Another day to enjoy what he always enjoyed .. a slow, gentle walk, a sausage from the kind butcher who always gave him one that was left over, a drink of water from the corner shop where a bowl was always left outside, a sniff at the lamp post on Rowan Street, and a stroll in the park to bark at the ducks. It was going to be another great day.

Off they set. This seems a bit bit fast, thought Fluff, who really liked to dawdle. We don’t usually walk at this speed.

Fluff could see the sausage that the butcher had left outside his shop, but they whizzed past it .. he could only get a sniff. Rats, thought Fluff, I like sausages. It was the same at the corner shop … no slowing down for a quick drink, they hurtled past. And the lamp post, well Fluff could vaguely smell some doggy messages left there, but they rushed past before he could really take them in. What’s going on, thought Fluff. This is like a race.

The gate into the park came and went as they rushed onward, faster and faster. No chance to say hello to the ducks today. Fluff was getting cross and sat down. He was in a huff. He was cross with Mr West. This wasn't the sort of day he wanted or expected, and he was getting tired with going so fast. ‘Come on Fluff,’ said Mr West, ‘we’re in a hurry.’

And then, suddenly, a little way along the road, Fluff understood. His owner Mr West, had booked Fluff in at the doggy beauty parlour for a wash and a trim, but Mr West was late, and that was why they had had to rush.

Fluff was pleased. The treatment made him look very handsome, and on the way home, slowly this time, he had enjoyed barking at the ducks, smelling the lamp post, having a cool drink of water, and munching the sausage, which was, amazingly, still outside the butcher’s shop. What a day.
