1 Long ago, far away, in the days of old,

ruled a king, so they say, wicked king of cold.

 This is the story that was handed down,

 this is the legend that has been passed on.

 This is the fable that through word of mouth

 has survived from an age that is gone.

 No on can say how much is true,

 no one can really tell for sure.

 Those that believe it may be few … but

 the ancient story will endure.

 So settle back and open up your mind,

 feel your imagination letting go;

 picture the scene and you will surely find

 you can feel what they felt long ago.

2 Long ago, far away, in the days of old,

 The land was frozen and the earth was bare,

 the trees were stark against the whitened ground,

 a hoary frost pervaded ev’rywhere

 and the world softly moaned a sad sound.

 There was no bright and dancing fire,

 no blaze to cheer and welcome you.

 No heat for life we all desire,

 nothing at all to warm you through.
